Day of the Independence of Mexico
It all began with the Mexican bicentenary celebrations in London in 2010.
We knew how important it was for ex-pat Mexicans to celebrate this special day so far away from home. ‘Expressarte’, a cultural organization, decided to throw a small party among friends and all those, Mexican or not, who wanted to join in the festivities and celebrate our vibrant culture. This became a great event from the beginning and every year the interest is increasing until it has become an international great event.
The only word to describe it was ‘Euphoria’, the crowd celebrated like never before because for the first time, the Mexican community in London had found a space to express and share their cultural identity and traditions in a 100% Mexican way.
The success of this first event exceeded all expectation and since then we have strived to create a bigger and better atmosphere each year, which is no mean feat judging by that special first reaction. We pride ourselves on delivering the best artistic programming with a plethora of performances for all tastes including top Mexican DJs, live Mariachis, local and international bands and authentic mexican food & drink.
Now Mexico has finally arrived on the UK scene becoming a staple event of London’s yearly festival calendar. A unique space where people from all walks of life can take a glimpse into the true Mexican cultural identity and where ex-pats can for one day a year feel like they’re home again.
